The Ministry of Finance has proposed to lower the threshold of duty-free Internet commerce from 1 thousand to € 500 since July 1, it follows from the draft government decree prepared by the agency and placed regulatory legal acts on the federal portal.

The Ministry of Finance proposes to further reduce this threshold in the future, to € 200 in 2019. Such measures the ministry explains by the formation of "equal conditions for the import of goods for delivery through traditional channels and through cross-border electronic commerce", follows from an explanatory note.

In early February, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that countries that are members of the Eurasian Economic Union agreed on the threshold of duty-free Internet commerce. "We agreed that this level, of course, will be one, otherwise this market will be fragmented. Such a decision has been made, and it has already been embodied in the acts of the Eurasian Union, "Medvedev said. At the same time, the head of the Russian government offered other deadlines for lowering the thresholds for duty-free Internet commerce: up to € 500 from January 1, 2019, and to € 200 from January 1, 2020.

He excluded the changes in the value norms for duty-free Internet commerce. "What threshold for us is necessary and sufficient remains to be seen. Discussions on this topic are continuing, but the benchmarks within the framework of the Eurasian Union have been set by this decision, "he said.
